My First Entry…Finally!

Hey! So, I made this blog like a month or so a go, but unfortunately forgot all about it until now. I know, I know. I’m such a bad person. But I’ve been working a lot this summer, so please forgive me! So, hey. My name is Hannah and I love baseball to death. I especially love my team, The Texas Rangers, to death. They will always be number one in my heart and they will always have a supporter in me. Some of my favorite Ranger memories include John Wetteland throwing me a ball from the bullpen when I was five years old, Michael Young’s triple in the All-Star Game a few years back and thus winning the MVP, the incredible Gary Matthews Jr. catch at the wall to rob Mike Lamb of a homrun and a bid for the cycle, the 30-3 bashing of the Orioles last year, and sending one of my favorite players, C.J. Wilson a letter over MySpace and receiving a comment from him and my letter being put up on his page as the ‘Letter of the Month.’ (Which last I checked was still on his page! Yayyyy!!!!) Love ya, CJ. I know they’ve been pretty mediocre for a while now, however we’ve got some great looking prospects coming up this season and I have had so much fun watching this team this year. They never say die and with their potent offense, they are never, EVER out of a ballgame. They make it interesting every single night and are not intimidated by anyone. I believe taking two out of three in Yankee Stadium a few series back was especially telling of this when the Rangers were huge underdogs and everyone assumed that they would get swept out of town!

So, I am going to try to make this blog a priority of mine and update it every day and talk about my thoughts on the game. I’m not very good with statistics or remembering situations in the game so don’t expect any of that with me. Haha. I’m not a mathematical person at all. Lol. So, unfortunately, I missed the beginning of this one because I was getting my picture taken. My mother had not had a new picture of me since my brother had his Senior pictures and that was in the year of 2002. So, she insisted upon me going to get my pictures taken. Haha. I knew I wasn’t going to win this battle, so I made a compromise. I took some in a pink top and some black pants. It was a nice outfit. Then, I took some of my Rangers stuff of course! It was my mom’s idea! haha. So, I have this huge throw/quilt that has the Ballpark on it. Of course, it says ‘Ameriquest Field in Arlington’ because it was a few years ago. God, I hate that name. I never stopped calling it the Ballpark, though. Haha. So was I incredibly happy when they changed it back. But that was the background and I had on my Michael Young t-shirt and I had brought my Ian Kinsler and Josh Hamilton t-shirt also to be props. I also had another red Rangers shirt and a Pudge Rodriguez red jersey. I also took a bear wearing Rangers stuff, a glove and a Rangers ball in it, a Rangers bat, and a cap. I took some sitting in front of the background of the Ballpark and then I took one of me just standing up and having the cap on. I think that one was my favorite. I’ll try to upload those on here when I get them on July 31st! So, I missed some of the game but no biggie. I listened to it on the way home! haha. Kevin Millwood came out and was looking good early on. He struck out the first two batters and my confidence in him was growing. This might be a good start for WoodMill, as my dad and I nicknamed him. So, then my mom insisted upon going to Target so I missed some more of it. When I got back in the truck, the Rangers were leading 1-0, but the White Sox had the bases loaded. They tied the game. Then the game was tied at 2 for awhile. While I was outside, Millwood got into trouble and gave up the lead. Then, KamLoe came in and struggled a bit, gaving up three earned runs. By the time I came back in, it was 8-2. But of course, the Rangers make it very, verrrryy interesting in the 9th inning. I believe it might have been Brandon Boggs who came up and hit a double? See, I’m not good at remembering all the details of the game because I don’t keep score! haha. Then, Chris Davis came up and bashed one to the wall. He made it to third. Jarrod Saltalamacchia (or as he will be referred to from now on here as Salty or the Salt-Man) came up and dropped a bloop and ‘Crush’ Davis scored. German Duran came up and struck out, however we had ‘appointed first half MVP by Jayson Stark of ESPN’ Mr. Ian Kinsler striding to the plate. I believe he got a hit, but I’m not sure on that. Haha. Again, not good at remembering, people! Mike Young came up and popped out. Then, ‘Mr. 95 RBIs’ Josh Hamilton strode up to the plate, looking to tie the game with a homerun. However, he grounded out to second, however Ramirez made an amazing play in the hole and threw Josh out. Nick Swisher made a great stretch to stay on the bag and the game was over. The Rangers lose 9-7, however like I said they made it VERRRRY interesting. I’m having an awesome time watching this team this year. Then, the 39,000+ that were there filed out of the Ballpark after an exciting but tough ending to the Eli Young Band concert on the North Patio outside the Ballpark. I wish I could have gone tonight, but I LOVE Texas Country music and I really LOVE the Eli Young Band. However, it’s okay. I saw (or saw for a few seconds) them at Wolfdance back in May but the crowd was so huge that I could barely stand up and I could not see them at all, so my dad and I just went somewhere and sat and listened to them play. Haha.

So, we’ve got the rubber game of the series tomorrow afternoon at 2:05 against the White Sox. Hopefully, we can end the homestand on a positive note and go strong into the All-Star Game. C’mon boys, let’s get that 50th win! I can’t wait to watch Josh in the Home Run Derby on Monday Night and Ian, Mike, Josh, and Milton in the All-Star Game Tuesday night. I, for one, am hoping for a Josh Hamilton-Edinson Volquez matchup in the Game and I’m secretly hoping that Josh takes him deep. Hehe.

Anyway, my allergies are killing me today and my nose is so stopped up, I can barely breathe through it so I’m gonna peace out on here and go take some medicine that will hopefully knock me out. Haha, so until next time….
